Childhool Memories… 1) Carnivals

Do you remember the days when you were young and the carnival was coming to town and you could just feel it in the air?

This is what this week’s post will be about. Childhood memories and dreams. First Memory: CARNIVALS.

I spent last week on vacation (probably why I haven’t blogged in a while) with my loving boyfriend Josh. We made the 10 hour drive that it takes from Toronto to Wildwood, New Jersey where we stayed near the beach for 6 days.

I used to go to Wildwood New Jersey as a kid…. every year. Wildwood New Jersey is home to more than 200 motels that were built during the Doo-Wop era (1950s and 1960s). They are known for their unique appearance and Vegas-like neon fantastic architecture. The population is about 5,000 people but can increase to 250,000 people just in the summer months!!!!

I remembered how much fun it was; families always happy with their kids running in the sand, feet buried deep in the water to cool off from the hot hot sun… Nothing but the sight of beach chairs and parasols invading the beach and only the sound of waves crashing onto shore and kids’ laughters! What a wonderful vacation to go on!!!

The other thing I also remembered was the boardwalk… the FAMOUS, and literally I do mean famous (look it up!) Wildwood New Jersey Boardwalk…. that stretches for 1.8 miles (2.9 km). Right off the boardwalk you will find multiple restaurants, arcades, even a chapel but also water and amusement parks! One of which is Morey’s Piers (My favourite place to stop at on the boardwalk).

And with that I leave you today…. photos from the boardwalk… CARNIVALS!

More to come later on this week…. stay tuned and enjoy the SHOW!
